What is the course like?

This online course offers tailor-made training to help teachers enhance their pronunciation skills over six dynamic weeks.

Participants attend a live two-hour Zoom session each week with Mark and Stella. If you’re unable to attend live, you can watch the recording on our virtual campus at your convenience.

The virtual campus is an interactive online platform that replicates the experience of a physical classroom. It allows you to:

  • Access recorded sessions
  • Submit assignments
  • Communicate with tutors and fellow participants
  • Explore educational resources, books, and materials
  • Take part in interactive activities and forum discussions

It harnesses the power of technology to create a rich and engaging learning environment — all from the comfort of your home, and regardless of where in the world you are.

Participants are also invited to take part in weekly one-on-one sessions with a UK-based tutor for personalized practice and accent feedback.

This is an international course that has been running successfully for six consecutive years.

Mark Hancock

Mark Hancock iIs a teacher, trainer and author based in the UK. He holds an MA in Teaching English from Aston University. His books include Pronunciation Games (CUP 1995), English Pronunciation in Use (CUP 2003), Authentic Listening in Practice (DELTA 2014, with Annie McDonald) and PronPack 1-4 (Hancock McDonald ELT 2017).

His latest books are PronPack 5: Pronunciation of English for Spanish Speakers (Hancock McDonald ELT 2020) and Mark Hancock’s 50 Tips for Teaching Pronunciation (CUP 2020). He also runs the teacher resource websites http://pronpack.com/ and http://hancockmcdonald.com/ (with Annie McDonald).

Stella Palavecino, M.A. in TEFL

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Stella Palavecino is a highly experienced ELT professional with a specialization in Phonetics and Phonology and postgraduate degrees in ICT for Higher Education and Pedagogy. She is widely recognized for her expertise in pronunciation instruction and phonological awareness.

She is currently the Pronunciation Special Interest Group (PronSIG) Coordinator for TESOL Spain, where she actively promotes professional development in pronunciation teaching across the ELT community.

Stella has written articles and reviews for TESOL Spain, IATEFL PronSIG’s Speak Out journal, and other ELT publications. She has delivered teacher training courses, workshops, webinars, and conference presentations both nationally and internationally. She was the recipient of the IATEFL PronSIG Scholarship (2020), a TESOL Spain Presenter Award (2022), and was honored with the Teacher Exchange Education distinction by the Little Falls Community High School Committee in the USA.

Currently, she lectures in Phonetics and Phonology I, II, III, and English Diction at teacher training colleges, universities, and in translation programs. She is a founding member of B.A. English House, where she designed the Assistantship in EFL Education program for university students from Bristol and Manchester (UK). In partnership with the British Council, IES en Lenguas Vivas “Juan R. Fernández,” and other institutions, she has organized numerous webinars and conferences focused on continuous professional development.

As an international language consultant, she has reviewed PronPack 1–4 by Mark Hancock and Keynote Intermediate by Paul Dummett.

Stella is also the creator and author of the Emo-pron Stories series, available at www.emopronstories.com.ar, which offers story-based resources for teaching pronunciation to young learners in a playful, inclusive, and emotionally engaging way.
