What is the course like?
Participants attend a live two-hour Zoom session each week with Mark and Stella. If you’re unable to attend live, you can watch the recording on our virtual campus at your convenience.
The virtual campus is an interactive online platform that replicates the experience of a physical classroom. It allows you to:

- Submit assignments
- Communicate with tutors and fellow participants
- Explore educational resources, books, and materials
- Take part in interactive activities and forum discussions
It harnesses the power of technology to create a rich and engaging learning environment — all from the comfort of your home, and regardless of where in the world you are.
Participants are also invited to take part in weekly one-on-one sessions with a UK-based tutor for personalized practice and accent feedback.

At the same time, feeling the sensation of certain tricky sounds in our mouths would counter the McGurk effect; right? Similarly; Praat can contribute to raising students’ awareness of tones, vowel length and fortis or lenis sounds. This tool is great for making language more visual and ‘tangible’, in a way.

I wanted to reach out to express my gratitude for the Pronunciation Booster Course. It was such an eye-opening experience! I truly enjoyed every session, and it made a great difference in my understanding of English pronunciation.
As someone who isn’t formally trained as an English teacher, this was the first time I had the opportunity to work on my pronunciation with such knowledgeable and professional teachers as Stella and Mark. The course allowed me to make improvements I hadn’t thought possible, and I feel much more confident in my pronunciation now.

The Pronunciation Booster Course was extremely helpful! I enjoyed learning about pronunciation with Stella and Mark. Both of them are great, very helpful and supportive. They were also very friendly which made the whole experience comfortable. The explanations were very clear and easy to understand and follow. The lessons were engaging and useful and they share plenty of games. They gave us interesting sources to create our teaching material. I would highly recommend the Pronunciation Booster course to anyone interested in learning English Pronunciation or just improving it.
It’s been or it’s being a great experience in many aspects. A great opportunity to be taught by top professionals in the field. Mark’s view on the importance of pronunciation is one of the things which have impacted me most. He’s impartial and as Cecilia said ‘humble’ and respectful: ‘always communication comes first or ‘pronunciation is key for listening’, among many others, are statements that I won’t forget.

I just wanted to thank the organisers of the PBC for such an amazing experience. During these weeks I was able to learn about pronunciation but in a more thorough way. I’ve received plenty of practical tips and tools for teaching pronunciation, which is a lot different than the way I’ve learned it during my teacher training. I was familiar with most of the theory, but I could understand the reasons behind it and the course make me acknowledge how important it is to help my students be aware of pronunciation in a more fun and contextualised way. I was already aware of what a schwa is and of what consonant clusters are, but I wasn’t sure how to apply that knowledge inside the classroom, and this course helped me with that. Not to mention the fact that I could learn it from the very best teachers Mark and Stella, I feel so grateful for this opportunity. It was noticeable how important it was for them to help other teachers by sharing their knowledge, and they were very kind by answering any queries we had. Apart from that, it was really helpful for me to have access to all the material and recordings via campus since I had some personal issues and therefore I wasn’t able to join all the meetings.
In a nutshell, the course and the teachers were remarkable and I’m really looking forward to joining today’s last meeting.

Stella Palavecino, M.A. in TEFL
Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Stella Palavecino is a highly experienced ELT professional with a specialization in Phonetics and Phonology and postgraduate degrees in ICT for Higher Education and Pedagogy. She is widely recognized for her expertise in pronunciation instruction and phonological awareness.
She is currently the Pronunciation Special Interest Group (PronSIG) Coordinator for TESOL Spain, where she actively promotes professional development in pronunciation teaching across the ELT community.
Stella has written articles and reviews for TESOL Spain, IATEFL PronSIG’s Speak Out journal, and other ELT publications. She has delivered teacher training courses, workshops, webinars, and conference presentations both nationally and internationally. She was the recipient of the IATEFL PronSIG Scholarship (2020), a TESOL Spain Presenter Award (2022), and was honored with the Teacher Exchange Education distinction by the Little Falls Community High School Committee in the USA.
Currently, she lectures in Phonetics and Phonology I, II, III, and English Diction at teacher training colleges, universities, and in translation programs. She is a founding member of B.A. English House, where she designed the Assistantship in EFL Education program for university students from Bristol and Manchester (UK). In partnership with the British Council, IES en Lenguas Vivas “Juan R. Fernández,” and other institutions, she has organized numerous webinars and conferences focused on continuous professional development.
As an international language consultant, she has reviewed PronPack 1–4 by Mark Hancock and Keynote Intermediate by Paul Dummett.
Stella is also the creator and author of the Emo-pron Stories series, available at www.emopronstories.com.ar, which offers story-based resources for teaching pronunciation to young learners in a playful, inclusive, and emotionally engaging way.
